A Customer Solution Engineer (CSE), Marine, offers technical expertise to the sales team, understanding customer needs and translating them into optimal KONE solutions.
KONE Spa at the Monfalcone shipyard seeks a CSE Engineer, Marine, responsible for the overall customer solution, including integrations, services, and products. This role involves defining specifications and engineering lead times in collaboration with front-line teams, supply line, and support functions.
The engineer works at the customer interface, is an expert in solution selling, and participates in customer meetings as needed. They possess a deep understanding of KONE solutions and services across business lines, especially within customer segments like cruise, ferry, and cargo ships. They consider product and service costing and planning aspects when defining solutions, including materials, engineering, installation, and maintenance impacts.
Responsibilities and Key Activities
1. Collaboration with sales:
o Finds optimal technical solutions for non-standard and modernization cases.
o Clarifies solution scope, including third-party offerings.
o Participates in customer meetings and addresses technical questions.
o Selects appropriate product platforms and proposes solutions across all KONE business lines.
2. Solution planning - Costing:
o Involves engineering, installation, maintenance, and project management to understand costs.
3. Solution planning - Specifications:
o Creates local material specifications.
o Ensures technical content accuracy from order to delivery.
o Develops detailed, custom product plans for non-standard cases.
4. Solution planning - Availability and Lead Times:
o Coordinates engineering schedules between supply line and customer.
5. Solution planning - Installability:
o Ensures proposed solutions are installable and considers installation costs and efforts.
6. Solution planning - Maintainability:
o Fulfills customer's product lifecycle needs.
7. Solution planning - Compliance:
o Ensures solutions meet codes, regulations, safety, and environmental standards.
Additional Responsibilities
* Provides technical content for pre-tender and pre-booking reviews.
* Executes activities for holistic solution planning.
* Supports layout coordination during delivery.
* Analyzes change requirements and proposes new solutions.
* Contributes to product release information sharing and portfolio customization feedback.
* Participates in the Customer Solutions Engineering network and maintains the case library.
* Acts as the primary technical contact for Supply Line Tendering Engineers.
Skills and Educational Requirements
* Bachelor/Master's in Engineering or similar.
* 3-5 years relevant marine engineering experience.
* Fluent in English and Italian.
* Holistic understanding of Marine solutions and customer segments.
* Technical knowledge of Marine offerings, standards, and installation processes.
* Strong solution and value-selling skills, customer needs translation, and virtual collaboration skills.
* Good team player.
