We are looking for a Project Engineer, Customer Delivery to join our team in Trieste, Italy (preferred); other possible locations include Drunen, Netherlands and Finland. What you will be doing
We are looking for an open-minded Project Engineer with a strong technical background and knowledge of Wärtsilä products, with specific reference to engine products. You should be able to understand the big picture and how products and components interact. You should have a structured, systematic way of working with strong problem solving and communication skills. Teamwork is essential, especially in remote conditions. Ability to work under stress and stay focused on project targets is required. Experience in Project Management processes and knowledge areas is a strong advantage.
You will be part of an experienced project team to execute demanding projects in challenging environments, gaining experience in international business and professional growth in an exciting field.
As Project Engineer, your responsibilities include:
* Safeguard that project-related works are executed according to contract specifications and design directives, planning the works with total cost and customer needs in focus.
* Provide technical support to the customer in project execution and pre-project stages when requested.
* Participate in the process of preparing the Contract for execution.
* Participate according to Gate Model as required.
* Manage (plan, steer, follow-up, analyse and report) contracted projects in close cooperation with the project team according to project execution plans.
* Prepare and provide the Customer with project-specific documentation (e.g., IPI, project schedules).
* Maintain daily contact with the Customer in close cooperation with the Project Manager.
* If appointed, act as the Integration Engineer to manage and coordinate engineering integration and information flow between different Business Lines' products.
* Be responsible for relevant milestones and gates as specified in the gate model.
* Manage internal and external purchase orders.
* Monitor and raise alarms for risks foreseen in contracted projects.
* Co-operate with and report to the Project Manager; participate in customer negotiations when needed and maintain good customer relationships.
* Manage non-conformity claims according to the given process.
* Seek opportunities for Variation Orders.
Qualifications
* B.Sc. or M.Sc. in engineering, preferably mechanical, electrical, industrial management, or shipbuilding.
* Good knowledge of Wärtsilä technology, solutions, and products.
* 1-3 years of working experience.
* Experience of project work in international business and proven communication skills.
* Good negotiation skills.
* Drives, defines, and cascades strategy to their business level; looks for opportunities to improve ways of working and acts as a role model for change.
* Will ingness to travel; Fluency in English.
In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Expect approximately 10% travel, with most meetings held virtually.
