Reporting Lines
The interpreter/translator reports to the Senior Interpreter, while also receiving guidance on translation from the Senior Reviser of the Chinese Translation Group.
Technical Focus
Use of correct terminology while interpreting. High quality interpretation delivered.
Provision of quality translation, precise use of FAO terminology and compliance with FAO Style requirements.
Tasks and responsibilities
• Interpret both simultaneously and consecutively from English to Chinese and from Chinese to English in all types of FAO meetings, including high-level bilateral meetings.
• Provide high quality translation within deadlines set, ensure accuracy of terms and terminology while following FAO Style requirements.
• Process urgent documents and in-session translations, working outside of regular working hours if necessary.
• Perform quality checks to ensure proper usage of terminology and consistency during interpretation and translation of documents and publications.
• Ensure adherence in documents and publications to the FAO Style guide for the relevant language.
• Perform other duties as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING:
Minimum Requirements
• University degree in interpreting/translation
• A minimum of five years relevant experience in conference interpretation/translation
• Full proficiency in English and Chinese
