Michael Page The HSE Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the effective implementation and management of Environmental, Health, and Safety programs at the manufacturing site in Italy. The primary objective is to create a safe, compliant working environment that minimizes environmental impact and fosters a culture of health and safety throughout the organization, while ensuring full regulatory compliance. Strategic Responsibilities - Regularly conduct risk assessments, safety training, and environmental sustainability programs at the site. - Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and manufacturing waste, continuously seeking improvements. - Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific EHS programs, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). - Develop and maintain emergency response plans. - Support the Regulatory team to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Operational Responsibilities - Perform regular facility inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure regulatory compliance. - Participate in review meetings to evaluate safety performance, discuss concerns, and implement corrective actions. - Ensure thorough documentation of incidents, audits, safety observations, risk assessments, corrective actions, and EHS metrics by the team. - Implement procedures to safeguard contractors and subcontractors working onsite, including pre-qualification assessments, safety training, and supervision of their activities. People Management - Plan and conduct EHS training sessions, awareness programs, and drills to educate employees on workplace safety standards, emergency procedures, and proper equipment use. - Drive a mindset shift towards an EHS-compliant workplace culture. - Lead safety culture-building initiatives through training and onsite programs designed to influence behavior and improve site safety. - Implement tools and practices that enhance safety awareness and compliance. Risk Management - Mitigate risks arising from non-compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. - Address hazards related to exposure to chemicals or unsafe working conditions to protect employee health and well-being. - Remain proactive in identifying and managing new risks introduced by evolving pharmaceutical manufacturing technologies and processes. - Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field Advanced degree or relevant certification is a plus - Experience in EHS roles within the pharmaceutical or manufacturing industries - Experience in the Seveso Directive - Capability to influence and inspire others to prioritize EHS initiatives - Process Adherence/System Orientation - Communication skills and Executive presence - People focus - Decision Making Our client is a chemical-pharmaceutical company based in Lodi.
