The Data Center Capacity Delivery team is looking for a Controls Manager to lead the building management systems and electrical power monitoring system (BMS/EPMS) deployment and service within Amazon data centers. The role requires a passion for customer experience, global thinking, and the ability to contribute to major innovations in building controls and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage remote teams in Texas.
- Travel up to 50% across Texas to support construction and data center product delivery.
- Develop, implement, and track team goals; report to stakeholders and leadership.
- Conduct interviews, develop launch plans for new hires, and identify team needs.
- Install, program, and troubleshoot BMS/EPMS systems and/or industrial controls systems.
- Write clearly and concisely.
- Read and interpret electrical and control diagrams, building operations, control circuits, and industrial HVAC concepts.
- Determine project scope and specifications based on customer needs.
- Manage project engineering to align scope with design intent.
- Develop drawings for control panels, power distribution, junction boxes, and related schematics.
- Create logic diagrams in International Automation format for PLCs and DCS.
- Inspect, test, and commission facility systems.
- Provide technical assistance to internal customers.
- Coordinate project work within the department and with other departments to ensure on‐time, on‐budget completion.
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of general contractor and vendor management work associated with construction and project execution.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent engineering science plus 8+ years of relevant controls experience, OR 12+ years of relevant controls experience in lieu of a degree.
- 3+ years of experience directly managing, mentoring, leading, and coaching teams of controls professionals.
- 3+ years of experience hiring, promoting, disciplining, and developing teams of controls professionals.
- 4+ years of experience managing large, complex projects involving mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
- 3+ years of experience managing deployment of complex electrical and mechanical controls systems, including large‐scale power distribution or generation and cooling systems.
- Experience working with cross‐function teams to deliver complex construction projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- MS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or other science).
- 6 years of directly managing, mentoring, leading, and coaching controls teams.
- 8 years of project and vendor management experience.
- 3 years of experience in data center system‐level architecture and electrical engineering principles.
- 3 years of experience in data center system‐level architecture and mechanical engineering principles.
- Experience designing data centers or critical MEP infrastructure.
- Certified Professional Engineer (PE).
- Prior AWS/Amazon experience.
- 5+ years of military service.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‐on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Base Salary
- USA, TX, Austin: $129,200.00 – $193,000.00 USD annually
- USA, TX, Houston: $129,200.00 – $193,000.00 USD annually
