The Amazon Web Services Professional Services (ProServe) team seeks an experienced Principal Data Scientist to serve as a technical leader and strategic advisor to AWS enterprise customers, partners, and internal AWS teams on transformative AI/ML projects.
Key Responsibilities

* Architect and implement complex, enterprise‑scale AI/ML solutions that address critical customer business challenges.
* Provide technical leadership across multiple customer engagements, establishing best practices and driving innovation.
* Collaborate with Delivery Consultants, Engagement Managers, Account Executives, and Cloud Architects to design and deploy AI/ML solutions.
* Develop reusable solution frameworks, reference architectures, and technical assets that accelerate customer adoption of AWS AI/ML services.
* Represent AWS as a subject‑matter expert in customer‑facing engagements, including executive briefings and technical workshops.
* Identify and drive new business opportunities through technical innovation and thought leadership.
* Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the growth of AI/ML capabilities within AWS Professional Services.
Basic Qualifications
*
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
* Experience leading large‑scale, technical or engineering programs with a proven record of thought leadership, business case development, and successful program completion.
* 11+ years building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application.
* Deep expertise in Python and relevant ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, etc.).
* Current, active U.S. Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.
Preferred Qualifications
*
* Ph.D. in computer science, machine learning, engineering, or related fields, or an MS degree.
* AWS Professional level certification.
* Experience with Machine Learning and Large Language Model fundamentals, including architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization of model execution, or experience with vLLM, SGLang, TensorRT or similar platforms in production environments.
* 3+ years of IT and/or Management Consulting experience.
* Demonstrated thought leadership through publications, patents, or conference presentations.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range: 189,400.00 – 256,200.00 USD annually (Arlington, VA). The total compensation package includes sign‑on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), and comprehensive benefits such as health, dental, vision, prescription, basic life & AD&D insurance, supplemental life plans, employee assistance program, mental health support, medical advice line, flexible spending accounts, adoption and surrogacy reimbursement, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
