Job Description:
RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior Estimating Consultant to join its office in Genova or Napoli, Italy within the Civil Engineering Division.
Mission
The Senior Estimating Consultant is responsible for drafting survey and subdivision plats, and technical specifications under the supervision of the Director of Survey. The Project Surveyor oversees the technical work of staff surveyors and is involved in QA/QC and cost estimation processes. Responsibilities include traveling to project sites for geodetic control, topographic, utility, and boundary surveys, ensuring compliance with regulations, and collaborating with project teams and stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities
* Conduct accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects, considering materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
* Collaborate with project teams to develop realistic and comprehensive budget forecasts.
Budget Management:
* Monitor and control project costs throughout all phases, ensuring adherence to approved budgets.
* Identify and report on any cost variations, providing recommendations for cost-effective solutions.
Survey:
* Conduct physical site surveys using various equipment and tools.
* Survey and investigate land surfaces to project precise measurements and locations.
* Perform mathematical calculations to confirm surveying measurements.
* Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including boundary calculations and legal issues.
Quantity Takeoff and Measurement:
* Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural and engineering drawings.
* Verify and measure completed work on-site for progress and billing assessment.
Contract Administration:
* Assist in preparing and evaluating tender documents and contracts.
* Review and negotiate contractual terms related to costs and quantities.
Documentation & Reporting:
* Generate reports on project costs and performance against budgets.
* Work with project managers to analyze financial data.
* Maintain engineering documents such as plans, plats, deeds, and surveys.
* Identify risks related to project costs and develop mitigation strategies.
* Coordinate with engineers and support staff for standards and code compliance.
* Ensure safety, quality, and technical policies are followed.
* Compile legal boundary reports and relevant project information.
* Explore cost-effective design alternatives and recommend value engineering solutions.
Qualifications
* At least 4 years of experience in surveying principles.
* Proficient in cost estimation software and tools.
* Ability to operate survey equipment.
* Familiarity with CAD and land development software.
* In the US, completion of FS exam or EIT certification is preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Civil Engineering, or related fields in Engineering, Mathematics, or similar.
