Ph3Overview /h3 pSr. Device Software Engineer, Kuiper Government Solutions – Amazon, Sant'Ambrogio di Torino, Piedmont, ITALY /p pSr. Device Software Engineer, Amazon Leo Government. Amazon Leo is Amazon’s initiative to launch 3,236 Low Earth Orbit satellites providing high‑speed, low‑latency broadband connectivity to underserved communities worldwide. Join our mission to close the digital divide and connect people, businesses, and governments in places where reliable connectivity has been a challenge. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liDesign, develop, and optimize embedded software for Amazon Leo’s satellite and ground terminal systems, focusing on fault‑tolerant, real‑time platforms. /li liLeverage modern application frameworks on Embedded Linux and RTOS platforms to develop scalable, modular, high‑performance software. /li liImplement and integrate software for data processing, device control, and networking protocols (TCP / IP, UDP). /li liDevelop low‑level drivers for peripherals and interfaces, including I2C, SPI, PCIe, UART, and GPIO. /li liCollaborate with hardware teams to support board bring‑up and integration testing. /li liDrive security initiatives, including bootloaders, cryptography, and secure Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices. /li liDebug and resolve complex hardware‑software integration issues using tools such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes. /li liCollaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless hardware‑software interaction and system reliability. /li liMentor junior engineers, conduct design reviews, and uphold high software quality standards. /li /ul h3Security Clearance /h3 pThis position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen to comply with U.S. government‑imposed requirements related to the nature of the work. /p h3About the team /h3 pAmazon Leo Government (ALG) is a multidisciplinary team developing targeted and scalable solutions for custom satellite and ground applications. ALG Device Software focuses on embedded software solutions for custom products supporting U.S. and allied government customers. We collaborate closely with hardware and systems teams to deliver secure, high‑performance solutions for mission‑critical applications. /p h3Basic Qualifications /h3 ul liBachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent. /li li5+ years of professional software development experience. /li liProficiency in at least one programming language. /li li4+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems. /li liExperience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team. /li li3+ years of programming experience in C, C++, or Rust for resource‑constrained systems. /li liProficiency in debugging, optimization, and hardware‑software system integration. /li liExcellent written and verbal communication skills. /li /ul h3Preferred Qualifications /h3 ul liMaster’s degree in computer science or equivalent. /li li5+ years of full software development life cycle experience. /li li3+ years of experience leading architecture and design for fault‑tolerant, real‑time systems. /li liHands‑on experience with Xilinx platforms, custom silicon development, cryptography, and secure SDLC practices. /li liIn‑depth knowledge of Linux kernel internals, including scheduling, memory management, concurrency, synchronization, and networking subsystems. /li liFamiliarity with networking protocols (TCP / IP, UDP) and low‑level hardware interfaces such as I2C, SPI, and PCIe. /li /ul h3Compensation /h3 pThe base pay for this position ranges from $151,300 per year in our lowest geographic market to $261,500 per year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
