Head of Government Relations & Policy Campaigns, Italy
As Head of Government Relations and Policy Campaigns in Italy, you will develop and execute integrated policy engagement plans and lead a local team under the direction of the EMEA Public Policy and Campaigns Director.
Responsibilities
Leadership: Line manage a team of policy & strategic engagement experts, inspire the vision and execute strategy to ensure targets, projects, and budgets are met on time.
Team culture & performance management: Create an inclusive culture, manage performance, recruitment, succession planning, and empower team members to grow their professional and strategic skills.
Strategy development & cross‑functional alignment: Determine strategy for priority geographies, set policy goals, develop operational plans, and collaborate with the wider EMEA team.
Communication & accountability: Align campaigns with business priorities, manage stakeholders, report progress, and communicate priorities to senior leaders.
External advocacy: Represent Airbnb at senior political levels, maintain relationships with legislative, executive, and administrative offices, and engage coalitions.
Qualifications
* At least 20 years of experience working with complex political or regulatory issues in the travel, urbanism, or technology sectors.
* Deep knowledge of Italy, Greece, EU legislative processes; Israel is a plus.
* Ability to quickly understand complex technical and regulatory issues and develop campaign strategies.
* Senior leadership experience managing diverse multidisciplinary teams with strong delegation, empowerment, performance management, coaching, and talent development.
* Experience managing multi‑stakeholder projects, prioritizing work, and coordinating support across functions.
* Excellent strategist, creative thinker, and expert communicator with strong writing and presentation skills.
* Self‑starter who thrives in fast‑moving, sometimes stressful environments.
* Fluent in Italian and English; additional European language is an asset.
* Based in Rome, with ability to travel to SEE, Brussels, and San Francisco.

Base pay is annualized, subject to change, based on training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also include bonus, equity, benefits, and employee travel credits.
