As Category Development Manager, you contribute to an ambitious strategic plan for Biscoff and Nakd in retail, working closely with the Italian Sales team. The role involves providing category segment data analysis (macro & micro levels) for selected retail customers for Lotus Biscoff in Sweet Biscuits & Spreads and our Natural Foods portfolio. This is achieved using available data/insight sources such as IRI, Gfk Customer specific insights, and Lotus Bakeries’ consumer/shopper research. With this data, you help shape the Commercial Account Plans in collaboration with the sales and marketing teams. The role includes creating an annual category plan with recommendations on assortment, promotion, pricing, and shelf placement based on the data. You will bring our category data to life by providing the retail team with the right dashboards and supporting the sales team with compelling category stories to aid listing and distribution of our brands. Additionally, you contribute to marketing efforts to develop strong sales scripts. You will join sales in visiting key customers and maintain close contact with our external field team to gather information on distribution and price levels. The role also involves tracking and evaluating competitors’ performance and deriving insights to inform our plans. A key focus will be analyzing promotional effectiveness of competitors and Lotus to build the strongest possible plans. Key responsibilities include:
* KPI Dashboard: Maintain a practical dashboard for KAMs to track Lotus performance versus competitors, updating bi-monthly. This will consolidate all market data.
* Distribution Analysis Report: Create and maintain a report monitoring distribution across strategic regions and customers over various time periods.
External reporting involves creating and presenting compelling category stories to selected retailers to enhance in-store placement of Lotus and Natural Foods brands. Strategic analysis includes examining assortment, competition, and trends to make long-term strategic recommendations, including maintaining an up-to-date report on physical store presence. Profile
Education: Master’s diploma, preferably in economics.
Professional requirements:
* At least 10 years’ experience in retail FMCG, with a minimum of 5 years in sales or category management.
* Advanced Excel skills and data analysis capabilities.
* Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
* Excellent storytelling ability.
Languages: Fluent in written and spoken Italian; strong understanding of English (written and spoken).
