Vertiv is looking for an Engineering Manager to be part of the Thermal Management mechanical Design team within the R&D Department, based in Piove di Sacco (PD) - Italy. He/She supports the development team for chiller and CRAH products in the NPDI process and provides support for the sustaining team. He/She supports the ETO – C design and development working in cooperation with offering and ETO team.What kind of work will you be doing?
Lead the thermal team assigned.Support and follow the laboratory test in cooperation with the Engineering Team leader.Support the Sustaining team in component selection and deviation on standard components.Identify key issues and drive decisions to ensure that the project does not slip.Responsible in the NPDI process for what concern the engineering deliverable (thermodynamic selection and GRS/rating tool, product cost) in cooperation with Engineering Manager.Operational responsibility for the thermodynamic design and numerical calculations of specific projects.Ensure the development of technical documentation and internal and external resources.Work with the marketing department to test new units with/without customers.Coordinate design activities.Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in its field.Develop co-workers and subordinates.Contribute to the development and adherence to standards, focusing on the key areas of customer, company culture and continuous improvement system.Support the development of new R&D products in the data center cooling sector for high profile and well-known global datacenter customers.Support a fast and customer focused response on "engineered to order complex" (ETO-C) projects, where a new solution is based on an existing and well proven platform.Work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team on global products focusing on high performance, cost effective design and market leading innovation.Approve and review product documentation (User manuals, rating tool, bills of material).Analyze and resolve technical problems as regards products under his/her responsibility.Availability to travel on request between the Italian HQ (base) and a production facility in Slovakia, Croatia and Mexico.
What will make you successful?
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Energy Engineering or equivalent science based subject is required.At least 5-10 years of previous working experience on similar projects.Very good knowledge of thermodynamics and refrigeration principles are essential.Knowledge of thermodynamics, physics, engineering and manufacturing processes.English – Intermediate level – written and spoken.A high level of motivation combined with leadership abilities is required.Able to work in competitive environment.Knowledge of technical norms and standards.Competences: result-oriented, team player, careful to details, flexible.
