We are seeking a Soft Goods Engineer with experience in designing cases and protective solutions for smart eyewear devices. The selected candidate will be part of the Product Development Team and will oversee the end‐to‐end development of the product, from defining technical requirements to the integrated design of both rigid and soft components of the case.
\n
The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in soft goods engineering applied to consumer electronic products, a strong knowledge of textile, polymeric, and composite materials, combines functional and aesthetic sensibility, and is comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (R&D;, Design, Industrialization, Supplier Management).
\n
Main Responsibilities
\n
Analyze technical and functional requirements of smart eyewear devices to define case specifications.
\n
Design the complete protection system, including rigid components (shell, inserts, protective structures) and soft components (fabrics, foams, stitching, linings).
\n
Select appropriate materials based on mechanical, aesthetic, tactile, and sustainability requirements.
\n
Develop concepts, mock‐ups, and prototypes in collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers.
\n
Ensure technical feasibility and manufacturability of the design, supporting industrialization and validation stages.
\n
Prepare technical documentation, drawings, BOMs, material specifications, and validation reports.
\n
Lead technical discussions and decision‐making across industrial design and DFM teams.
\n
Lead regular project status meetings and report to senior leadership and stakeholders.
\n
Interface with suppliers for the development of innovative materials and production processes.
\n
Collaborate with UX, Product Design, and Hardware Engineering teams to optimize the final user experience.
\n
Main Requirements
\n
Bachelor's degree in engineering; advanced degree preferred.
\n
5+ years of engineering design and project management experience in high‐end consumer electronics products, ideally in products that combine soft and hard parts.
\n
Strong knowledge of soft goods engineering, hard components engineering and related technologies applied on consumer electronics products.
\n
Strong knowledge of soft goods materials technical fabrics, microfibers, TPU, EVA, foams, laminations, recycled materials.
\n
Familiarity with the design of rigid components made from plastics, composites, or thermoformed materials.
\n
Ability to read and generate technical drawings (2D/3D) using CAD software (e.g., Creo, NX, SolidWorks, Rhino).
\n
Experience with soft goods manufacturing processes such as sewing, thermoforming, heat bonding, and injection molding for rigid parts.
\n
Understanding of mechanical testing (compression, drop tests), durability evaluation, and material performance.
\n
Awareness of requirements specific to smart devices electronic protection, thermal management, accessory integration.
\n
Strong problem‐solving abilities.
\n
Comfortable working in cross‐functional teams and collaborating with international suppliers.
\n
Good communication and concept presentation skills.
\n
Innovative mindset with curiosity for new materials and processes.
\n
Strong time management, autonomy, and attention to detail.
