C++ Engineer – Ultra Low-Latency Trading Systems (Algorithmic Trading / HLS)
We are partnering with a well-capitalised proprietary trading firm seeking a highly skilled C++ Engineer to design and optimise ultra low-latency trading systems. This role is focused on building performance-critical trading algorithms and execution logic where microseconds and often nanoseconds, directly impact PnL.
You will work at the intersection of algorithm design, market data processing, and hardware acceleration, developing highly optimised C++ code that powers live trading strategies. While exposure to FPGA/HLS is valuable, the core emphasis is on algorithmic performance, latency optimisation, and deterministic system design.
What you will be working on as a C++ Engineer
* Designing and implementing ultra low-latency trading algorithms in modern C++ (C++17+), with a strong focus on determinism and performance.
* Building and optimising market data handlers, order execution logic, and signal processing pipelines.
* Writing highly efficient C++ code suitable for FPGA acceleration via HLS, with a focus on translating algorithmic logic into hardware-friendly designs.
* Profiling and tuning systems at the CPU and hardware level to minimise latency, jitter, and cache inefficiencies.
* Collaborating closely with traders and quants to refine strategies and translate them into production-grade, high-performance systems.
What we are looking for as a C++ Engineer
* 4+ years of experience in modern C++ within low-latency or performance-critical environments (ideally trading systems).
* Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and performance optimisation techniques (cache locality, lock-free programming, memory layout).
* Experience building or optimising real-time systems such as market data feeds, matching engines, or execution platforms.
* Exposure to FPGA or HLS (e.G. Vivado HLS) and an understanding of how software translates to hardware is advantageous, but not essential.
* Prior experience in electronic trading, market microstructure, or quantitative systems is highly desirable.
