Stern Energy S.p.A., a leading European service company specializing in utility-scale and industrial photovoltaic power plants, manages over 2.2 GW of assets with a team of 275+ professionals across six subsidiaries. To strengthen its Commercial & Technical Asset Management unit, Stern Energy is seeking a Technical Asset Management Lead (Solar) to lead and expand the Technical Asset Management (TAM) function across multiple European countries.
Reporting to the Head of Commercial & Technical Asset Management, the role oversees a growing multicounty TAM team (6 countries) responsible for the technical performance and operational oversight of a portfolio of PV plants across Europe (13 countries).
Role Overview:
The Technical Asset Management Lead ensures the optimal technical performance, reliability, and long-term value of photovoltaic assets. The role combines strategic coordination, technical supervision, and operational oversight, including O&M/revamping/repowering/extraordinary maintenance contracts management, plant performance monitoring, root-cause analysis, and implementation of improvement actions.
The position involves frequent collaboration with German- and English-speaking colleagues and partners, coordination of external advisors, and regular site visits across Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, coordinate, and develop the multicountry TAM team, setting standards, methodologies, and best practices.
* Oversee the technical performance of utility-scale and industrial PV plants, ensuring availability, reliability, and lifecycle optimization.
* Manage and supervise O&M contracts, monitoring performance and contractual compliance, and maintaining relationships with service providers.
* Ensure effective plant monitoring, performance analysis, and root-cause investigation of underperformance, defining corrective and preventive actions.
* Oversee monthly technical reporting, analysing deviations from forecasts.
* Define and implement technical strategies to improve production, efficiency, and asset longevity.
* Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control related to technical operations and asset optimization.
* Ensure compliance with technical, environmental, and safety regulations.
* Manage warranty and insurance claims for key components on behalf of project companies.
* Plan, coordinate, and perform on-site inspections across European PV plants.
* Coordinate technical due diligence for acquisitions, repowering projects, and new assets.
* Collaborate with Commercial Asset Management on reporting, performance reviews, and strategic decisions.
* Select, manage, and coordinate external technical partners and advisors.
* Promote knowledge sharing and professional development within the TAM team.
Requirements:
* Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
* At least 7 years of experience in technical asset management of PV plants, with both desk-based management and on-field experience.
* Proven experience in team coordination and multicountry operations.
* Independent, detail-oriented, and resilient working style.
* Excellent proficiency in MS Office.
* Fluent English (mandatory); German or another EU language is a plus.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Willingness to travel frequently across Europe.
Knowledge of wind technology is considered a plus.
