Project Radioprotection Specialist (f/m/d)
Overview
This position involves leading radiation protection activities across site design, licensing, shielding, regulatory compliance, and project delivery for new and existing radiopharmaceutical facilities.
Location: Erlangen (Germany), Venafro (Italy), Barcelona (Spain).
Responsibilities
* Lead the development of all relevant radiation safety and EHS processes and procedures from site design through start‑up.
* Generate, submit, and manage radioactive materials licensing documentation, including regulatory correspondence.
* Develop shielding designs for new facilities, applications, and cyclotron installations.
* Conduct shielding verification and confirmatory surveys.
* Provide onsite support for the implementation of radiation protection and EHS programs.
* Review and submit all required decommissioning documentation and support licensee activities during decommissioning.
* Manage projects to meet all required deadlines.
* Support sites during regulatory inspections to secure and maintain approvals.
Qualifications and Experience
* Masters degree in Medical Physics, Radiological Health, Radiation Protection, Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or a related scientific field.
* Familiarity with radioactive materials and EHS regulatory frameworks, preferably from regulated industrial or pharmaceutical environments.
* Several years of experience in radiochemical or radiopharmaceutical operations, or applied radiation protection involving unsealed radioactive materials.
* Strong understanding of GMP‑regulated environments and regulatory expectations.
* Demonstrated project management experience with ability to manage timelines, priorities, and cross‑functional deliverables.
* High proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools.
* Alternative qualification: bachelor’s degree or completed vocational education combined with relevant professional experience.

* Comfortable operating in a hybrid work environment.
* Fluency in English; additional language skills considered an asset.
* Willingness to travel up to 30% annually across Europe, the UK, and India.
* Flexibility to reside in Germany, France, Spain, or Italy, or relocate if required.
