Research Associate Institute of European Ethnology/Cultural Anthropology The position in accordance with Section 28 subsection 1 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) commences on 01.10.2019. This is a fixed-term contract in accordance with Section 2 of the academic fixed-term labor contract act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG). The initial fixed term is three years. The position calls for 50% of standard work hours per week. Responsibilities: Research associates are expected to primarily teach and conduct research. They will also have the opportunity to pursue further academic qualifications, including a doctoral dissertation. At least one-third of the working hours will be allocated for the research associate’s own academic work. Specific Duties: Support and contribute to academic research and teaching, assist in funding proposals, and teach undergraduate classes (2 LVS). Requirements: A university degree in a relevant field. Candidates should have an excellent university degree in empirical cultural research, cultural anthropology, European ethnology, or a related discipline. Prior experience in empirical research and teaching at university level is advantageous. Research interests should align with the Institute’s BA and MA programs, particularly in “Digitization in Everyday Life” or “Digital Heritage.” Proficiency in German and English is required.
