The Membership Office drives sustainable membership growth and Movement health by engaging our girls, volunteers, parents, councils, and supporters to fulfill the Girl Scout mission. The teams in this community are involved with network alignment and advancement of mission delivery strategies; driving the full lifecycle management of products, platforms and program, both digital and physical; council leadership support and training; cultivation of national partnerships that drive membership growth; and movement property strategy and support. The teams work closely with all other GSUSA communities to bring an exceptional experience to our members and to ensure a vibrant, sustainably growing movement.
USA Girl Scouts Overseas (USAGSO) brings the Girl Scout Experience to the daughters of military, Foreign Service and American expats in over 90 countries around the world and to all girls in American or International schools. Staff teams are located in New York, Italy, and Japan.

The Membership Manager is responsible for developing and executing effective retention and recruitment strategies for girl and adult members and providing support of adult volunteers to increase awareness and participation in Girl Scouting. She/he is also responsible for successfully culminating recruitment efforts by initiating strategies and protocols needed to convert prospective members (leads) into registered members. She/he is responsible for securing increased girl and adult volunteer participation as well as the community partnerships needed to implement Girl Scouting overseas. Additionally, the Membership Manager supports and partners with Administrative Girl Scout Volunteers (Overseas Committee Management Team, Global Volunteer Partners, etc.) to support troop volunteers and achieve the goals and strategy of USAGSO.

**Essential Responsibilities**
1. Assists in achieving the USAGSO's goals for girl and adult membership through implementing membership strategies in assigned portfolio.
- Assists in designing and implementing a comprehensive plan for girl and adult membership growth in targeted areas by researching market data, membership trends, and other pertinent information relevant to individual portfolio and designated geographic areas.
- Supports implementation of membership recruiting marketing strategies outlined in USAGSO's strategic plan, annual business plan and/or other organizational goals primarily through phone and written follow-up contacts with prospective members and community partners.
- Studies and becomes proficient in girl and adult related trends, multi-cultural data and demographics, effective communication, and marketing techniques to effectively implement a membership plan.
- Prepares action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts to be made to meet membership goal. Prepares a variety of status reports, including activity, follow-up, and adherence to goals.
- Supports external recruitment efforts and can finalize membership enrollment leads. Follows up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity in a timely fashion.
- Remains in contact with community organizations, agencies and military and embassy leaders, educators, and faith-based institutions to increase awareness of and participation in Girl Scouting.
- Ensures Girl Scouts works to be actively anti-racist and demonstrates a commitment to the Girl Scout pledge against racism.
2. Recruits, selects, trains and mentors Overseas Committee Management Team (OCMT) and partners with the OCMT to achieve new and retained member goals.
- Assures each Overseas Committee (OC) has an Overseas Committee Chair (OCC), Registrar, and Treasurer and any other committee members that are needed to advance Girl Scouts and support Troop Volunteers.
- Assures the OCMT members are trained and prepared for their positions.
- Partners with the OCMT to determine annual goals and programming plans for the OC
- Meets regularly with the OCC and the OCMT to provide support and assistance to the community
- Provides resources, materials and supplies to support recruitment and retention efforts.
- Cultivates relationships with the overall community
- Answers, problems-solves, manages and responds appropriately to all inquiries from assigned communities
- Assures succession planning for the continuity of program in a highly mobile population
3. Works interdepartmentally to ensure USAGSO's goals are met.
