Italdesign is continuously advancing its methodologies in the field of Passive Safety, leveraging state‑of‑the‑art CAE numerical simulation techniques to enhance vehicle safety performance and optimize the early phases of product development. You will contribute to a project dedicated to the fine‑tuning of CAE modelling parameters related to side airbag deployment, aimed at enhancing the correlation and predictive accuracy of numerical simulations with respect to physical test results.

Thesis Project

As a thesis student, you will be supported by your tutor in the analysis and development of the following thesis project, focused on:

* Identifying which material and sub‑component characterizations are required to evaluate variability in airbag deployment behaviour and subsequently implement them in CAE simulation models;
* Calibrating material cards and parameter sets to accurately correlate the observed physical behaviour;
* Updating seat FEM model with validated materials and parameters;
* Performing the final simulation loop with the dummy in a full‑vehicle side crash load case, evaluating the improvement in correlation with physical test results.

Key Requirements

* Passion and interest in Passive Safety and Numerical CAE Simulations fields;
* Proactivity in proposing innovative ideas and approaches;
* Good team working skills;
* Responsibility and integrity;
* Good interpersonal and communicative skills;
* Flexible and hardworking;
* Good time management;
* Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferential Requirements

* University projects developed using CAE simulation tools will be considered a plus;
* University projects developed in the field of passive safety will be considered a plus.
