The Preliminary Design Engineer – EDF Military Programs Lead is an exciting opportunity to join the Preliminary Design team within the Advanced Systems Design & Technology section.
The team focuses on defining propulsion system architectures and integrating them into future aircraft for both commercial and military applications. Initially, this role supports ongoing European Defense Fund military technology development programs.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, providing technical leadership and integrating outputs from various disciplines (mechanical, aerothermal, controls, etc.).
* Interface with internal and external customers or partners to specify system requirements and communicate them to relevant teams.
* Coordinate and perform trade studies of propulsion system architecture configurations and aircraft installation feasibility studies.
* Define and monitor the execution of technical activities, deliverables, and milestones, reporting progress to leadership and ensuring alignment across functions.
* Contribute to defining the required technologies and maturation roadmap for introducing novel concepts.
* Lead or support technical and program reviews, presenting findings to audiences ranging from technical experts to executive leadership.
* Ensure compliance with best practices and proper documentation of all work.
Qualifications/Requirements
* Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited university; aerospace preferred.
* Experience in aviation gas turbine engine development and integration on aircraft.
* Knowledge of engine architecture trades and their impact on system performance and aircraft capabilities.
* Significant experience in systems engineering and related technical disciplines.
* Experience with fixed-wing and rotorcraft applications and associated gas turbine engines.
* Propulsion system and aircraft requirements management experience.
* Familiarity with research and technology development processes.
* Fluency in English.
* Work visa according to local regulations required.
