Role purpose
Second line operations of core IMS networks in a multi‑vendor environment. The role focuses on preventive and corrective troubleshooting to maintain the quality, continuity, and restoration time of core IMS network elements. The candidate will collaborate with first line operations to develop procedures for fault analysis, perform data configuration, software roll‑outs, and support integration activities.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership
- Handle incident troubleshooting, vendor support escalation, and restore core network service and performance.
- Execute proactive maintenance activities to prevent incidents and continuously optimise the network (e.G., daily walkthroughs and health checks for core CS components).
- Manage planned work activities, network rollouts, software upgrades, and parameter changes in the core CS network to ensure quality of service and avoid regression.
- Introduce and manage cutting‑edge technologies, including vendor and on‑the‑job training.
- Perform acceptance testing and integration/configuration of new network elements in the core CS network.
- Share knowledge to elevate the technical skills of other teams involved in deployment and operations activities.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience
- Strong knowledge of core network principles for 2G/LTE: MSS, MGW, SBC, CSCF, TAS, ENUM, VoLTE.
- Good knowledge of core network protocols: SIGTRAN, ISUP, CAMEL, INAP SIP, Diameter, TCP/UDP, S1AP, GTP/GTPv2, MAP, BSSAP.
- Experience in trace analysis (Wireshark, Tektronix, network element traces).
- Understanding of NFV framework, VNF context and technologies (virtualisation layer, VIM, VNF managers) and related protocols (MPLS, IPSEC tunnel).
- Automation skills with common languages/tools (Python, PowerShell, Ansible, scripting).
- Unix/Linux OS administration skills.
- Team‑working orientation and good communication skills.
- English (spoken and written).
- Italian (preferred).
Must have technical / professional qualifications
- University degree in Electronics, Telecommunications or Information Technology.
- 1–2 years of experience in core network operations and maintenance.
- Relevant Nokia core network trainings and certificates or equivalent.
