Overview

YOUR MISSION

You will be responsible for safeguarding, promoting, and leveraging the rich history, archives, and cultural legacy of Panerai to enhance brand equity, inspire future creations, and engage internal and external stakeholders. You will guarantee strategic leadership in managing Panerai's heritage assets, ensuring their preservation, accessibility, and effective integration into brand storytelling, product development, and communication strategies.

You will be the curator and main project leader for the Villino Panerai: You will spearhead initiatives to transform the Villino Panerai into a premier destination for immersing visitors in the brand's heritage, actively contributing to the initial planning and development stages, including conceptualizing captivating exhibits and defining the framework for an exceptional, high-quality customer experience.

You will be based in Milan, requiring a mix of office-based work at both the Milan Office and the Panerai Villino office in Florence.


Responsibilities

* Develop and implement a comprehensive heritage strategy aligned with Panerai's overall business objectives and brand identity, emphasizing its unique historical narrative in watchmaking and its connection to the sea.
* Define the vision for the heritage department, ensuring its relevance and impact across all brand touchpoints.
* Identify opportunities to leverage Panerai's heritage for brand differentiation, innovation, and market positioning within the luxury watch sector.
* Oversee the acquisition, cataloging, conservation, and digitization of historical documents, watches, instruments, prototypes, and other heritage assets related to Panerai's past.
* Establish and maintain best practices for archive management, ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of the collection.
* Manage the physical and digital archives, including storage, security, and environmental controls.
* Develop compelling narratives and content based on Panerai's heritage for various platforms, including internal communications, marketing campaigns, digital channels, and public relations, focusing on its origins, innovations, and iconic designs.
* Collaborate with marketing, communications, and creative teams to integrate heritage stories into brand campaigns, product launches, and customer experiences.
* Act as a brand ambassador and expert on Panerai's history and legacy.
* Work closely with design and product development teams to provide historical context, inspiration, and insights from the archives for new watch collections, limited editions, and product innovations, ensuring authenticity and respect for Panerai's distinctive DNA.
* Ensure authenticity and respect for the brand's DNA in contemporary designs and reinterpretations of classic models.
* Conceptualize, plan, and execute heritage-focused exhibitions, events, and cultural initiatives to showcase Panerai's history, craftsmanship, and technical innovations to a global audience.
* Manage relationships with museums, cultural institutions, and external partners for collaborations and loans.
* Conduct in-depth historical research to uncover new insights and validate existing narratives related to Panerai's founders, key periods, technical advancements, and iconic timepieces.
* Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of the brand's history, key milestones, and significant figures.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of archivists, historians, and heritage specialists.
* Lead the Heritage Committee
* Manage departmental budgets, resources, and projects effectively.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for all heritage-related inquiries from internal departments, media, researchers, and the public.
* Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including collectors, watch enthusiasts, and industry experts.


Qualifications

* Master's degree in Archival Studies, Museum Studies, Brand Management, Cultural Heritage Management, or a related field.
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in heritage management, archival leadership, museum curation, or a similar role, preferably within the luxury watchmaking, luxury goods, or cultural sector.
* Proven track record of developing and implementing successful heritage strategies and projects.
* Ability to develop long-term vision and translate it into actionable plans for Panerai's heritage.
* Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and present complex information clearly.
* Meticulous research skills and a keen eye for historical detail and accuracy.
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, on time and within budget.
* Strong ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
* Deep passion for history, culture, and the specific heritage of Panerai, including its watchmaking traditions, military and maritime connections, and Italian design ethos.
* Fluency in English and Italian is required; proficiency in French is a significant advantage.
