Job Title: HSE Manager – Onshore Wind Project (Contract)

About the Role
Our client, a global renewable energy company specializing in the development and installation of wind projects, is seeking an experienced HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) Manager to support the safe and compliant delivery of an onshore wind installation in Puglia, Italy. This is a contract role with responsibility for ensuring all site activities are performed in accordance with Italian legislation, company standards, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation and review of HSE documentation prior to installation start in November.
Ensure compliance with all relevant Italian laws, regulations, and standards governing health, safety, and environmental protection.
Monitor site execution during installation, carrying out inspections and audits to ensure safe practices are maintained.
Verify that all suppliers, subcontractors, and contractors working on site hold the appropriate documentation, permits, and certifications.
Coordinate and enforce site HSE requirements, including induction training, risk assessments, method statements, and emergency preparedness plans.
Act as the primary point of contact for HSE matters, liaising with project management, suppliers, and local authorities where necessary.
Conduct regular site visits (approx. 1–2 days per week) to oversee HSE compliance and provide guidance to site teams.
Report, investigate, and follow up on any incidents, near-misses, or non-compliance issues.
Promote a strong safety culture across the project team and supply chain.
Requirements
Proven experience as an HSE Manager (or equivalent role) within construction, renewable energy, or heavy industry projects.
Strong knowledge of Italian HSE legislation, rules, and compliance requirements.
Background in onshore wind or energy projects highly desirable.
Ability to review, prepare, and implement HSE documentation effectively.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence contractors and stakeholders.
Fluent in Italian (mandatory) and English (preferred).
Flexibility to attend site 1–2 days per week and travel as required.
