About the Team :
Stella McCartney Supply Chain Planning & Logistics Team is a key player in the S&OP processes within the company at the global level. We ensure a smooth flow of finished goods from suppliers to stores to provide the best customer service, while maintaining tight cost control across our warehouses worldwide. We also strive to improve logistics performance and effectiveness, with the main goal of delivering excellence.
Role overview
The role reports to the “Supply Chain and Logistics Director” and is based in Milan, Italy.
The “Product Compliance Specialist” works across all of SMC’s product categories (Ready To Wear, Leather Goods, Footwear, Accessories), serving as a point of contact between the company and external laboratories and consultants. The role involves implementing programs, policies, and practices to ensure compliance with global regulations on product chemical safety, customs requirements, and labelling, in line with directives from the Director. Collaboration with the Corporate Social Responsibility & Human Rights team is also essential.
Create and drive a framework to ensure SMC maintains a “best in class” product compliance program, including processes and internal controls.
Monitor new and revised regulations and develop action plans in collaboration with relevant business groups and external sources.
Communicate regulatory requirements clearly through written and verbal channels, supported by external partners.
Oversee product testing and foster strong relationships with third-party testing laboratories.
Coordinate with materials teams and SMC Business Units to arrange testing for materials and finished goods, identify root causes of non-compliance, and plan corrective actions with external support.
Support sustainability certifications (GOTS, GRS, OEKO-TEX) by working closely with the Sustainability Team to ensure compliance with certification standards.
Requirements :
* Academic background in Chemical Engineering or related field with specialization in Product Compliance (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree).
* At least 2-3 years of experience in product compliance within the fashion industry or a consultancy firm.
* Proficiency with various technical systems, curiosity about processes and data.
* Strong analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative.
* Fluent in Italian and English, both verbal and written.
* Proactive with a team-oriented mindset.
* Willingness to travel.
* Knowledge of ERP systems (Stealth is a plus), Power BI, and advanced Excel skills.
