APPLICATION CLOSING DATE: 30.10.2025 Human Technopole (HT) is an interdisciplinary life science research institute, created and supported by the Italian Government, with the aim of developing innovative strategies to improve human health. Its mission is to conduct cutting-edge research and translate innovations into methodologies accessible to the entire national scientific community. As part of this mission, HT provides access to state-of-the-art research infrastructure in five key areas through the National Facilities for Structural Biology, Light Imaging, Genomics, Genome Engineering, and Data Handling & Analysis. About the Dynamic Single Molecule (DSM) Unit: The Dynamic Single Molecule (DSM) Unit operates within the National Facility for Structural Biology; together with other units serves as a scientific and technological hub for integrative structural biology. The unit offers advanced tools to visualize biological processes in real time at the single-molecule level. It is built around two cutting-edge Lumicks instruments, integrating optical tweezers with fluorescence-based and label-free detection modules. Fluorescence imaging enables high spatial and temporal resolution observation of labeled molecules, while optical tweezers uniquely allow for controlled perturbation of biological systems by applying precise picoNewton (pN) forces. This integrated approach complements high-resolution structural studies, unveiling the dynamic mechanisms underlying molecular processes. The goal of the Unit is to establish standardized workflows, from sample preparation to data analysis. The Unit not only provides instrument access and training but also supports scientists in developing and refining their experimental ideas. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Single Molecule Specialist to join the National Facility for Structural Biology. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in single-molecule techniques and play a pivotal role in supporting research projects, developing novel methodologies, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to drive HT’s vision of scientific excellence forward. The candidate will be reporting to the Manager of the Unit. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to pioneering research in single-molecule studies while collaborating with top-tier scientists and utilizing cutting-edge technology. As part of the onboarding process, we will offer comprehensive training and a clear path for professional growth, making this a great opportunity to develop your expertise in the field. If you are passionate about advancing structural biology through single-molecule techniques, we encourage you to apply. Key tasks and responsibilities User Support & Training: Provides hands-on technical support and user training, guides experimental set-up and data acquisition Experimental Design & Operations: Designs, implements, and optimizes single-molecule assays, conducts advanced experiments, troubleshoots technical challenges, and implements new applications to expand the facility’s capabilities. Collaboration & Scientific Consultancy: Serves as a key liaison with internal teams and external users, advises on experimental design and project execution, and contributes to publications, data analysis, and grant applications.
