Job Overview
As a Network Development Engineer you will build, operate, and improve the network infrastructure that supports the AWS global cloud environment. You will collaborate with other engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure network services.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Leading network projects in areas such as sustaining engineering, deployment, scaling, technology refresh, best practices application, and optimization.
- Influencing operations by responding to customer impact events and improving the automation that runs our network.
- Analyzing the network with tools and metrics to ensure correct, safe and secure operations.
- Investigating technical issues and fixing complex problems to prevent recurrence.
- Planning, delivering and simplifying new systems, processes, and tools for customers.
- Delivering sustainable, repeatable solutions and processes, optimizing and removing bottlenecks.
- Understanding new and upcoming networking systems and safely implementing them into the environment.
A Day in the Life
An NDE ensures all network fabrics and devices operate as expected, troubleshooting issues that automation cannot resolve and identifying root causes. They invent, refine, and develop new automation to reduce manual operations and meet business and customer needs.
About the Team
The Network Development team drives engineering, implementation, scalability, operations, reliability, and sustainability for all network fabrics that underpin AWS services within an isolated region.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience working in a large‐scale networking environment.
- Experience in technical support or working with customers, delivering exceptional service and troubleshooting technical systems.
- Experience with network protocols such as DNS/DHCP/TCP, or deploying identity and access management systems, Linux OS, and network troubleshooting.
- Experience managing and troubleshooting network, networking protocols, automation and control tools.
- This role requires you to be a national of an EU member state.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals such as BGP, OSPF, and other R&S technologies.
- Experience using Linux and associated tools or languages.
- Knowledge of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting.
- Experience working with customers and delivering exceptional service, or experience in BigData architecture and managing firewalls.
- Experience in scripting or programming in Ruby, Python, Shell/BASH, Java, C/C++, C*, Perl, or other languages.
