A major large offshore oil & gas development project is looking for an Instrumentation & Control Engineer to join the team in Milan, Italy. This is a 22-month contract running until December 2027 with an immediate start .
The RoleYou will act as the I&C technical authority, supporting the design, integration, and commissioning of control and instrumentation systems for offshore platforms while ensuring EPC contractor work meets project standards.Key Responsibilities
* Review EPC deliverables such as instrument indexes, datasheets, I/O lists and cause & effect diagrams
* Ensure designs meet ISA / IEC standards and SIL safety requirements
* Oversee integration of PCS, SIS and ESD systems
* Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, FAT and SAT reviews
* Review control philosophies, logic diagrams and Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
* Support configuration of PLC, DCS and SCADA systems
* Ensure correct specification and installation of field instrumentation
* Ensure compliance with hazardous area classifications (ATEX / IECEx)
* Support commissioning, loop checks and system testing
* Assist with handover to operations
Requirements
* Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics or Control Engineering
* 10+ years' experience in I&C engineering within offshore oil & gas
* 5+ years in a PMC or Operator role reviewing EPC deliverables
* Experience with offshore platform automation systems
* Knowledge of DCS, PLC, SCADA, SIS systems
* Experience with vendors such as Honeywell, Siemens, Yokogawa, ABB, Emerson or Schneider
* Experience with SIL studies and control system testing
* BOSIET / FOET preferred
