Program Overview
The Urgent Care Fellowship program is a minimum 9-month continuing specialty rotation that will provide enhanced clinical experience in Urgent Care Medicine. The Fellow will have one-on-one preceptorship with the Urgent Care Clinical Faculty, learn through hands-on patient care, and receive ongoing lectures guided by the didactic curriculum.

The mission of the fellowship program is to provide fellows with comprehensive structured cognitive and clinical education to become competent, proficient, and professional urgent care providers. The goals are to train fellows to become proficient in WellNow core competencies and to prepare them for success in a fast-paced Urgent Care environment.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Urgent Care teams under mentorship to provide patient care, including examining, diagnosing, and treating patients of all ages with acute illnesses, injuries, or chronic disease exacerbations.
* Order evidence-based testing, prescribe medications, and refer to specialists as needed.
* Provide occupational medicine services, including DOT exams and Worker’s Compensation injury treatment.
* Perform pre-participation physicals for camps, sports, and employment.
* Maintain accurate patient charts and document in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Minimum Education and Experience
* Completion of an accredited PA or FNP program.
* Active board certification with NCCPA for Physician Assistants or with AANP or ANCC for Family Nurse Practitioners.
* Licensure as a Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner in the applying state.
* Demonstrated clinical competence, excellent communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness, computer skills, and a strong desire to learn.
