Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Evaluate customer/project requirements and select appropriate topologies for DC/AC and DC/DC applications.
* Lead design engineering efforts for power electronics products, including analysis from initial planning through design and testing.
* Design, develop, and test advanced power electronics such as converters and inverters, utilizing medium to high power switching components (hundreds of kW) and associated circuitry.
* Select active semiconductor switching devices and passive components (capacitors, inductors, transformers) for converter power circuits.
* Lead verification testing on new designs and products.
* Analyze switching and transient device behavior to determine operational limits and gating requirements.
* Perform design analysis including modeling, simulation, and control loop development.
* Optimize designs for efficiency, density, and cost-effectiveness.
* Conduct design reviews and adhere to NPI processes.
* Perform hands-on lab work, building and debugging prototypes.
* Conduct electrical characterization, validation, and qualification testing.
* Assist in introducing products into production.
* Provide technical support for manufacturing and field issues.
* Lead projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
* Prepare invention disclosures to protect intellectual property.
* Mentor junior engineers.
* Coordinate with contractors to outsource project tasks, track progress, and report to management.
Required Skills, Experience, Education, and Abilities:
* BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering focused on power electronics, with over 8 years of industry experience. PhD is a plus.
* Strong understanding of power inverter operation and design.
* Strong understanding of 3-phase power systems.
Base Salary Range: $180K-$220K.
