Global AWS central support team is looking for a passionate Data Scientist to model contact forecasting, discover insights, and identify opportunities through statistics, machine learning, and deep learning to drive business and operational improvements. A successful candidate will partner with data engineering, tooling, operations, training, customer service, capacity planning, and finance teams to deliver optimization and prediction solutions across the network. Key Responsibilities
Build and manage modeling projects, identify data requirements, and develop methodology and tools that are statistically grounded. Serve as an expert in data science, optimization, machine learning, and statistics, facilitating ideation and guiding projects from concept through execution. Maintain a strong customer focus, demonstrate innovation, independence, and results‑orientation within a fast‑paced, growing organization. Apply knowledge of operations, manufacturing, or process improvement to support analytical initiatives. Embrace ambiguity and collaborate with a highly distributed team of experts. Own globally impactful work and grow career opportunities in technical, programmatic, or leadership tracks. Develop solutions primarily using Python or R (other modeling languages acceptable). Drive results through problem‑solving, data modeling, and knowledge of business impact.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a data scientist. 5+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, MATLAB). 5+ years of experience with machine learning/statistical modeling and data analysis tools and techniques. 2+ years of guiding and coaching a group of researchers. 5+ years of experience working with or evaluating AI systems. Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), or equivalent experience. Experience applying theoretical models in a practically driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or higher in STEM. Knowledge of machine learning concepts and their application to reasoning and problem‑solving. Experience in a large technology company’s ML or data scientist role. Experience defining and creating benchmarks to assess GenAI model performance. Experience applying quantitative analysis to solve business problems and support data‑driven decisions.
