The opportunity
For our Business Unit Grid Automation in Santa Palomba Roma, we are seeking a Technical Lead Engineer to support engineering activities related to automation in Medium and High Voltage Substations, including testing and commissioning.
You will ensure that engineering, testing, and commissioning activities are executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with customer expectations, contract specifications, Hitachi Energy policies, quality standards, and safety requirements.
How you'll make an impact
* Act as a technical lead and design authority for engineering deliverables across disciplines; coordinate all technical activities during the project cycle, including testing and commissioning.
* Collaborate with customers to shape solutions, incorporate feedback, and maintain high customer satisfaction; share technical knowledge within the HUB Europe Region.
* Assist the Project Manager with cost estimations, scope change claims, and assessing cost, time, and risk impacts.
* Develop base designs for substation automation, control, and protection systems; verify detailed designs.
* Handle aspects of detailed design engineering, testing, or commissioning as needed.
* Resolve complex technical issues at customer sites, both remotely and on-site.
* Provide technical details and financial information for sales proposals.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
Your background
* Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Electronic, or Automation Engineering (or similar).
* Minimum 5 years of experience in substation automation projects.
* Knowledge of control and protection relays for high and medium voltage substations; LAN networks; industrial automation (PLC, RTU, SCADA).
* Fluent in Italian and proficient in English (B2 level).
* Strong communication, proactivity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
