Zappos is seeking an experienced Buyer to join our Merchandising team. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of brands through the ordering of new products and analyzing / managing stock levels. You are the business owner for the brands in your category and will engage directly with internal partners to effectively optimize assortments and execute department wide initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify trends by conducting thorough research and adopting a customer mindset.
* Partner with suppliers to maintain a consistent in‑stock rate of key items at the right time for customer demand.
* Drive improved customer experience for the assigned category using data‑driven decisions.
* Integrate key metrics with broader business metrics to deliver optimal customer experience.
* Champion ideas across the team, acting as a resource and expert within areas of responsibility.
* Take a forward‑thinking, holistic, and data‑driven approach to maximize profitability while over‑communicating strategies with stakeholders.
* Gather and analyze internal and competitor merchandise data, including knowledge of ABC categorization and analysis.
* Understand the needs and wants of different consumer demographics, product segmentation, key selling weeks, and seasonal demand.

In this role the ideal candidate will be a forward thinker, always anticipating possible future product offerings by conducting thorough research about what customers are looking for next and the fashion trends that are coming up.
Basic Qualifications
* 5+ years in Buying, Planning or other related Merchandising roles.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience using Microsoft Excel to manipulate and analyze large sets of data.

The base pay for this position ranges from $66,000 / year in our lowest geographic market up to $141,100 / year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. The position may include equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
