As Head of Business Development, you will design, develop, and maintain a pipeline of new revenue streams that support the budgeted EBITDA growth of the business. This includes leading on new business from new clients, and supporting the Client Relations Director on new business with existing clients, including defensive bids.
The role is primarily focused on driving and delivering growth for the Mental Health, MSK and Corporate Wellbeing service lines. You will be accountable for tender responses across IPRS Health, ensuring all submissions meet a high standard and contribute to an improved win rate.
You will manage leads from identification through the bid process and support mobilisation to ensure exceptional operational delivery. This will involve identifying upselling opportunities, staying attuned to the evolving demands of the industry, and influencing innovation projects within IPRS to improve the volume and quality of bids pursued.
You will be an active member of the wider Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the Operational Committee and taking a lead role in the Commercial Committee. You will also support the Managing Director in managing and meeting the expectations set by the Health & Wellbeing Board.
While responsible for your own deliverables, you will be primarily motivated by the commercial health and growth of the business in line with budgeted targets.
Additional Responsibilities
Business Development
· Provide accurate and timely pipeline reporting for monthly Performance Progress Reviews and Commercial Committee meetings.
· Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for business development activity and ensure continuous improvement against targets
· Ensure CRM platforms are consistently maintained and updated in line with business standards.
· Proactively research new business opportunities and tender requirements to feed into the sales pipeline.
· Monitor, respond to, and follow up on new business enquiries using approved IPRS Health processes, tools, and tender platforms.
· Lead the preparation and delivery of proposals in tender scenarios, working collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team to address contractual matters.
· Prioritise and plan sales activity and prospect engagement to support delivery of agreed commercial objectives.
· Analyse market developments, competitor activity, and industry news, and report insights to the Commercial Committee to inform strategy.
· Oversee the creation and development of marketing materials, ensuring consistent communication of new products and services to existing and prospective clients.
· Build strong networks within key target sectors to drive revenue and profitability in line with strategic growth targets.
· Support the Senior Leadership Team with commercial budgeting and forecasting to align growth planning with broader business objectives.
· Contribute to the development and execution of IPRS Health’s commercial strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business priorities
· Collaborate with central support services to achieve the expected targets. (Bid, Marketing, Research etc,) If in-house resource is required leadership of that service will be assumed.
· Collaborate with marketing and the Head of Marketing on events and ideas that will help generate a high ROI for the business
· As an when a business development team is required/recruited, the team will be measured against core metrics agreed with the MD which the Head of Business Development will be accountable for.
Client Relations
· Cultivate strong client relationships, building trust and credibility to support long-term growth and account development.
· Working aside the Client Relationship Director you will enhance client engagement and retention strategies
· Owning the Business Development aspects of contract extensions,
· Represent IPRS Health at industry events, forums, and with strategic partners to build relationships and identify new opportunities (as relevant).
Senior Leadership Responsibilities
· Actively participate as a member of the IPRS Health Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the collective decision-making and direction of the business.
· Collaborate with SLT colleagues to deliver on key strategic projects and business initiatives.
· Provide regular market intelligence and client insight to the SLT, identifying competitive trends and opportunities for product or service innovation.

Salary Up to £65,000 per annum
Hours 40 hours per week Mon-Fri
Location Home based with occasional travel
