OverviewMaintenance Engineering Specialist responsible for electrical maintenance and reliability of LNG facilities in Milan, Italy.
Responsibilities- Develop and conduct preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems to enhance reliability and performance.
- Manage maintenance of power, instrument, and earthing transformers across LNG trains.
- Participate in functional safety studies and proof‑test planning for safety instrumented functions.
- Oversee operation and maintenance of Gas Turbine Generators (GTG) Frame‑7 / Trent 60 class GTGs.
- Use electrical test equipment for calibration and competency assessments.
- Maintain and update Electrical Area Classification (EAC) drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage protection relay settings, coordination studies, and firmware version control.
- Ensure compliance with ATEX / IECEx certification standards for hazardous areas.
- Monitor SCADA & electrical systems for optimal performance and safety.
- Implement international electrical standards across all operations.
- Oversee emergency diesel generators (EDG) and UPS/DC systems for critical loads.
- Coordinate contract site electrical activities and supervise vendor operations.
- Develop and adjust preventive electrical maintenance plans based on operational needs.
- Provide technical expertise to achieve maintenance at minimum cost.
Skills & Qualifications- Expertise in power transformers, dielectric oil analysis, and dissolved gas analysis (DGA).
- Strong knowledge of functional safety (IEC 61511 / IEC 61508) principles.
- Experience with gas turbine generators (GTG) Frame‑7 / Trent 60 class GTGs.
- Proficiency in using electrical test equipment, including HV test sets and power quality analyzers.
- Ability to manage EAC and hazardous area drawings.
- Skilled in protection relay management and COMTRADE event record analysis.
- In‑depth understanding of ATEX / IECEx certification processes.
- Familiarity with SCADA & electrical monitoring systems, particularly Honeywell Experion PKS.
- Knowledge of international electrical standards such as IEC, IEEE, ANSI, API, EN, NEMA MG1/2, ISO.
- Experience with motor protection & control systems and emergency diesel generators (EDG).
- Competence in UPS / DC systems management for safety‑critical loads.
- Expertise in PLC/DCS for electrical systems and CMIMS/SAP PM integration.
- Ability to conduct arc flash & electrical safety studies per IEEE1584‑2018.
Education & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications in electrical engineering or safety standards are advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years in maintenance engineering within the LNG or energy sector.
