Engineers should have a thorough knowledge of hydraulic fracturing principles and operations. They will be responsible for ensuring jobs are completed to customers request and promote customer relations in the field.

The main goal of Frac Engineers is to design, execute, and optimize various frac treatments.
As a Frac Engineer, your responsibilities as follows:
1. Data collection – tracking chemicals, rates, and pressures, using a variety of purpose-built software in addition to common Microsoft office software, such as Excel.
2. Software setup and support – making sure that frac software is ready for the job and troubleshooting challenges that are encountered during the operation. FracPro and Stimplan software from NSI technologies is a common alternative for frac&pack applications.
3. QC – managing frac chemicals on location. Depending on the service company, the lab is usually responsible for QC however frac engineers often spend some type testing chemicals as well.
4. Client support – keeping the OSR informed about technical issues and providing the client with raw data.
5. Onsite supervision – often after gaining some experience frac field engineers work as frac supervisors. This includes training less experienced members of the frac crew and new engineers.
6. Frac modeling – creating frac models with the help of various software packages like GOHFER.
7. Daily frac reports and post-jobs – most clients expect some type of post-job and daily updates for the frac operations.
8. In addition, depending on the regulations frac reports might have to be sent to the government regulating agencies that keep track of chemicals that are pumped.

To be successful in this role you will:
9. Interact with customers at the job site and assists in providing any technical or operational solutions
10. Bachelor’s in Engineering or Math and Science / Geologist related degrees preferred, but not required
11. Pre and post design and reporting incl modelling and calculations
12. Pre job design and analysis
13. On-the-fly frac job design changes
14. Operate real time monitoring software
15. Perform and oversee QAQC fluid testing in the lab and on location
16. Track inventory of fluids, chemical, and proppant at the job site
17. Perform mathematical calculations as required for stimulation operations
18. Record job information into excel workbook
19. Prepare and distribute reports and post well summaries
20. Troubleshoot fluid, computer, and operational issues
21. Assist operations with rig up/rig down procedures as needed
22. Other duties as assigned
