Project Development Manager – Renewables – Italy - remote
Renewables – battery storage, wind and solar
50-60k Euro + generous bonus and stock options
MacArthur Recruitment is looking for an Italian speaking, Renewables Project Development Manager with experience in battery energy storage systems (BESS) and ideally wind projects. Experience in solar would also be a bonus. This is with an international, publicly listed, renewables company.
Remote, home based role with some travel.
Our client is seeking a skilled and driven Project Development Manager to play a central role in advancing their Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), wind and later, solar projects across Italy. The position provides full responsibility for projects from early-stage development through to Ready‑To‑Build (RTB), offering the chance to make a meaningful contribution within a fast‑growing, dynamic organisation. Ideally you will have strong, hands‑on experience in the Italian renewables sector, a proactive approach, and excellent execution and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
Responsibilities
* Lead all development activities for greenfield, mid‑stage, and advanced wind and BESS projects in Italy, working closely with external developers and internal teams to progress assets to Ready‑To‑Build (RTB)
* Oversee project timelines and budgets, ensuring smooth execution across all development phases
* Direct and coordinate the work of external developers, engineering firms, consultants, authorities, institutions, and advisors to secure all necessary permits, authorisations, and administrative approvals
* Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks across financial, legal, technical, regulatory, and environmental dimensions throughout the development and implementation process
* Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders
* Support continuous improvement of development and project management practices, contributing to portfolio expansion, scalability, and the technical and financial optimisation of active projects
Qualifications
* Good experience in renewable energy project development, ideally spanning multiple technologies BESS - Battery Energy Storage Systems, wind and solar
* University degree in Engineering or another relevant technical discipline
* Strong understanding of the Italian renewable energy market, including permitting pathways, regulatory frameworks, and grid connection processes
* Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex projects, including documentation, scheduling, budgeting, and coordination of external interfaces
* Solid knowledge of industry standards, administrative procedures, and regulatory obligations
* Highly motivated, with strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work autonomously, excellent problem‑solving capabilities, and meticulous attention to detail. Experience within an international organisation or major energy developer is an advantage
* Native or fluent Italian, with strong English proficiency for technical and professional communication (written and spoken)
* Willingness to travel throughout Italy as needed – remote, home based role, with occasional site visits
