Financial Compliance Accountant - Milan, Italy
The Prologis organization in Europe is structured with a vast number of legal entities; there are over 900 legal entities across multiple jurisdictions and countries including 56 entities and 2 REIF OICR in Italy. The corporate purpose of these entities is various but together they are all established to serve our one business purpose, i.e. owning and leasing of warehouse facilities. Most of these entities are required to file statutory accounts, corporate income tax returns, and other local filings like Bank of Italy reporting, withholding tax, etc. These European filings are referred to as ‘Financial compliance’.
What’s needed in order to do that :
* Support and review output from third-party providers to ensure accurate filing of annual accounts, corporate income tax and other local filings with regulatory bodies (Bank of Italy, Consob)
* Provide legal documentation, reviewed accounting schedules and other relevant information to enable the finalization of the compliance work (Tax books and accounting registers, according to local requirements)
* Support the local statutory audits with the Local audit teams
* Function as local compliance (GAAP and Tax) accountant and provide guidance to the accountants in various accounting teams based in Amsterdam
* Ensure alignment with internal and external policies and regulations and timely reporting
* Coordinate with external and internal parties, such as the Legal, Tax and Treasury departments, to ensure all deadlines are met and cross-functional activities such as re-financing and corporate simplifications are effectively performed
* Ensure that all statutory adjustments are provided to the general ledger accountants for posting in the accounting system
* Review tax calculation packages
* Support to VAT team for filings and communications with ITA
* Review tax assessments, prepayments, and final payments in conjunction with filed CIT returns

1. Education on at least Bachelor level in accounting, additional tax expertise is an advantage
2. 5+ years’ work experience in financial accounting at an international environment
3. Fluent in Italian and English (spoken and written). In this role you will work in a multi-cultural and matrix-structured environment where you need to engage with people across Europe, specifically with our team in Amsterdam (headquarters in EU).
4. Strong Excel skills are a must and affinity with data analytics and automating processes is a plus
