The Head of Operational Transformation is responsible for governing the Aurubis Operating System towards operational excellence. He drives implementation and further development of the system in close alignment with group functions and local Continuous Improvement teams. Integrating technological innovations and digitalization is key for future-proof operational excellence. Additionally, structuring the buildup of Operational Excellence capabilities across Aurubis and developing a high-performing team of Operational Excellence Managers to support the sites as business partners. Operational Excellence Managers act as internal method experts and change catalysts for transformation processes at our sites. They assist line functions in initiating and implementing improvement activities, aiming for systematic solutions. Their cooperation with sites is based on support and challenge, sharing operational excellence knowledge across organizational levels and providing relevant training. Overall, they help guide Aurubis towards being the safest, most efficient, and most sustainable smelter network globally. Full or part-time (at least 80%) roles available. The following sites can be considered for this position : Head of Operational Transformation (M / F / d) Your Tasks Lead an international team of operational excellence managers and drive implementation of the Aurubis Operating System towards tech-enabled operational excellence. Drive change across sites and organizational levels, supporting operations and business process improvements through digitalization, technology, methods, and performance behaviors. Conduct AOS site assessments to identify improvement potentials and develop higher maturity and a collaborative improvement culture. Provide group governance for quality, improve quality processes, focusing on assurance and control. Identify focus areas and potentials in production processes and related KPIs, linking initiatives to operational and financial results. Manage improvement programs / projects, deploying strategic initiatives across international sites and acting as methodology expert and change facilitator. Promote cooperation and knowledge sharing across sites and departments. Support team development to prepare members for future leadership or expert roles within Aurubis. Regularly liaise with site management to ensure alignment and prioritize customer support. Expand external industry and research partnerships for best practice exchange. Facilitate organizational learning and serve as an internal trainer for Lean, Six Sigma, and digital transformation. Your Profile Technical or business master’s degree or diploma (e.g., industrial or chemical engineering) or comparable field. 5 years of experience in continuous improvement, digital excellence, cross-functional projects, and cross-site initiatives in an international multi-site setting. 5 years’ experience as a certified Black Belt with a proven track record in leading Black Belt projects, training, and coaching Green Belts, ideally in a similar industry. Experience in digital transformation from strategy to implementation, with solid technical knowledge. Structured, conceptual problem-solving skills combined with strategic thinking.
