Provide technical support to sales, design, and project teams on lighting products, specifications, and applications. Prepare and review technical submittals, datasheets, shop drawings, and compliance documents. Assist in selecting suitable lighting fixtures, drivers, and control systems for projects. Respond to client, consultant, and contractor technical inquiries promptly and professionally. Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and project teams for approvals, product information, and technical clarifications. Support installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and value engineering of lighting systems. Conduct product testing and evaluate samples to ensure quality, performance, and project compatibility. Review, revise, and validate test reports to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with project requirements. Maintain technical documentation, stay updated on lighting technologies, and ensure compliance with standards. Prepare technical reports and provide internal and external reporting while maintaining proper documentation.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 2–3 years of experience in lighting technical support or a similar role. Knowledge of lighting products, drivers, control systems, and electrical standards. Experience with Dialux, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software. Skilled in technical submittals, datasheets, shop drawings, and test reports. Experience in product testing, sample evaluation, and report revision. Strong communication, coordination, and documentation skills. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks. Ability to speak Italian is an advantage.

Your duties include making visits to specifiers (insurers, fire authorities, end-users, consultants etc) as well as networking in the engineering/building community and supporting local industry related organisations. You will have commercial responsibilities for Water Mist (Econaqua/Procon) and Foam systems. You work closely within our great local team of Sales, Customer Service in Italy and your Technical Support colleagues in other territories. The main duties:

Build a specification and quotation pipeline Assist our customers in complex projects to identify the systems and products they require Provide technical support to customers and specifiers for water based product range Provide technical support to colleagues with accurate technical information Organize and provide training and seminars Provide on-site assistance to customers as necessary Maintain strong contacts with system stakeholders (for example end users, engineers & insurers) to provide assistance and work towards getting Viking products specified Work with our product management team to define our product offering and manage our local product approvals Work closely within the technical support team in EMEA Work closely with the sales, operations and marketing department to launch new products Participate in Standards Committees and Trade Association and drive the development of the sprinkler industry Define and realize solutions for local standards / regulations
Ideally, you are based in Milan area (Viking Italy office is in Milan). The position requires occasional traveling mostly in Italy, but visits may be required to other countries as well. The Technical Sales Engineer will report to the Sales Manager of Viking Italia, also based in Milan. Qualifications and experience:
Background in technical / business development within the fire protection or related business Engineering background (Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronical) and understanding for the jargon within the contracting business Good knowledge of Fire protection rules, experience in the design of systems would be an assets Knowledge of special hazards engineering is nice to have Prefab/pipework installation experience is desirable Proven technical skills, experiences Italian and English languages are a must, French language skills would be an advantage, but are not a pre-rquisite
