* We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our team in developing innovative solutions for food insecurity and its drivers.
About the Role
">
* The ideal candidate will have experience in machine learning, data science, and programming skills with Python.
* They will be responsible for developing and testing machine learning models for estimating risk of dietary micronutrient inadequacy at national and sub-national levels.
* The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
">
1. Develop and test Machine Learning models for estimating risk of dietary micronutrient inadequacy at national and sub-national level, in collaboration with the rest of the Data Science team.
2. Support ad-hoc data explorations and analysis for the project, by means of traditional statistical analysis as well as state-of-the-art data science methodologies.
3. In collaboration with the software engineering team, support the design and the implementation of production-ready data pipelines for visualizing the data in the HungerMapLIVE.
4. Support the writing of technical papers and reports to be submitted to peer-reviewed international journals.
5. Participate in workshops, meetings and conferences to present the technical aspects of the project, within the organization and externally.
6. Ensure adherence to WFP policies regarding data, including data privacy, security, management, and code documentation.
7. Perform other tasks as required.
Requirements

* Masters degree in engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics or similar.
* At least 1-5 years of professional experience in a data science-related position or field.
* Strong knowledge of statistics and passion for machine learning with an understanding of algorithms.
* Experience in git is a requirement.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively and respectfully in a diverse and multicultural team environment.
Preferred Qualifications

* Experience designing and querying SQL databases.
* Knowledge of survey methodologies.
* Knowledge of food security and nutrition data.
* Experience working with the humanitarian sector or in food security nutrition field.
