What You Will Do: Act as a specialist for ABS in applying rules, regulations, requirements, concepts, principles, and processes to new and existing cruise ships. Maintain an active awareness of new methods and developments affecting the technical scope of cruise ships and recommend changes in the plan review processes as warranted by such developments. Recommend new approaches to problems encountered and change methods, procedures, or design where necessary. Plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute various phases of engineering work and monitor the quality of service on work performed. Monitor work and projects performed by other engineers to ensure maintenance of quality, content, consistency, and continuity of work performed. What You Will Need: Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or other related discipline. At least six years of experience in the marine industry with exposure to cruise ships at a Class Society or Designer. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Detailed knowledge and experience about classification and regulatory requirements associated with: Structural fire protection, Active fire protection, Lifesaving appliances, Means of escape. Preferably, knowledge of evacuation modeling. Reporting Relationships: The incumbent reports directly to the Director level or higher. This position does not have any direct reports.
