Job Title: Electrical Commissioning EngineerLocation: Milan, ItalyProject Type: Data Centre ConstructionDuration: 1 yearRotation: 3 weeks on, 1 week offJob SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery and commissioning of a large-scale data centre project in Milan. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. Key Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and execute commissioning activities for electrical systems, including: Medium and low voltage distribution systemsUPS systems and battery installationsStandby generators and associated controlsSwitchgear, transformers, and protection systemsEarthing and lightning protection systems
Develop and review commissioning plans, method statements, and proceduresLiaise with design teams, subcontractors, vendors, and client representativesWitness and validate factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT)Ensure proper integration and testing of electrical systems with mechanical and BMS systemsTroubleshoot and resolve technical issues during commissioning phasesMaintain detailed commissioning records, reports, and documentationEnsure all activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulationsSupport handover processes, including training and documentation for operations teamsQualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fieldMinimum 5–8 years of experience in electrical commissioning, preferably on data centre or mission-critical projectsStrong knowledge of international standards (IEC, ISO) and commissioning best practicesExperience working for a general contractor or commissioning agent on large-scale construction projectsFamiliarity with data centre infrastructure, redundancy (N+1, 2N), and reliability requirementsProficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawingsSkills & Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and coordination abilitiesAbility to work under pressure and meet tight project deadlinesDetail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and safetyProficient in MS Office and commissioning/documentation toolsLanguages English (required)Italian (preferred)Working Conditions Site-based role in Milan with potential extended working hours during critical commissioning phasesMay require occasional travel to vendor sites for FAT inspectionsReporting Line Reports to: Commissioning Manager / Project ManagerContract Type ContractStart Date As soon as possibleAdditional Requirements Valid EU work authorizationRelevant safety certifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH preferred)ApplicationInterested candidates should submit their CV along with details of relevant project experience, particularly within data centre or mission-critical environments.
