Your life on board: As an Environmental Officer, you will be responsible for checking, monitoring, and supporting shipboard teams to ensure compliance with environmental policies and procedures. You’ll identify, assess, and communicate environmental compliance risks, actively working to support shipboard teams by communicating environmental requirements to help mitigate risk and prevent non-compliance. Get things right: · You will be responsible for checking and monitoring that the ship fully complies with environmental policies and procedures. · You will oversee the environmental requirements of voyage planning for compliance with company procedures. · You will guide and support shipboard employees to maintain environmental compliance through regular meetings, rounds, and mentoring. · You will verify the accuracy of environmental logbooks and records, ensuring they are up to date and readily available. · You will deliver and oversee compliance training, ensuring it is completed within the timeframes set by company procedures. · You will assist with audits, inspections, and action plan development, supporting the analysis and determination of root causes and the development of corrective and preventative actions. · You will compile monthly environmental compliance reports and support the preparation and submission of environmental incident reports. Safety First: · You’ll support a safe and healthy onboard environment. · You’ll follow HESS regulations and health protocols, reporting any violations. · You’ll contribute to a culture of safety, sustainability, and accountability. What makes you unique: · You have served as an Engine Officer with a minimum rank of 2nd Engineer or higher - or a Deck Officer with a minimum rank of 2nd Officer or higher - or have equivalent experience in the Navy, Coast Guard, or shoreside engineering. · You have a B2 spoken level of English; knowledge of other languages is a plus. · You have proven experience in the environmental protection field, preferably in the marine or shipping industry. · You possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills. · You have good administrative skills, good computer knowledge and the ability to prioritize.
