This position is open to U.S. citizens who are either active duty members or family members of U.S. Military or Civilian personnel currently assigned to Naples, Italy.

Job Summary

Sells general merchandise to customers exercising professional selling techniques. Works as part of a sales team to provide service which anticipates and exceeds customer expectations. Assists in all aspects of ensuring full operation of the Food and Beverage Convenience Bar including, but not limited to, opening and closing the Convenience Bar, preparing, displaying, replenishing goods, and cleaning stations and equipment as necessary.


Duties and Responsibilities

* Greet and engage customers in conversation to provide sales‑related assistance, assist in selection, and suggest additional items.
* Interact with customers and coworkers in a friendly and professional manner, adhere to NEX dress code uniform standards, and support sales team members to the maximum extent possible.
* Become knowledgeable regarding merchandise, including proper setup, use, care characteristics, price points, warranty coverage, etc., and communicate this information to customers.
* Ensure assigned areas are fully stocked and merchandise is neatly arranged; communicate with supervisors regarding stock additions, deletions, and customer preferences.
* Participate in department meetings and actively seek ideas to improve customer service, job performance, and achievement of store department sales goals.
* Complete sales transactions efficiently and thank customers for their patronage.
* Handle all types of cash register transactions (cash, charge, check, gift certificates, layaway, etc.) accurately and procedurally.
* Advise customers of upcoming sales events and services available throughout the Navy Exchange, such as gift wrapping, engraving, delivery, gift certificates, etc.
* Offer customers the opportunity to open a NEXCARD account and inform them of its benefits.
* Become knowledgeable in NEX store policies, including Richter Merchandising System functions, merchandise returns, price matching, check cashing, rain checks, etc.; handle customer returns and problems tactfully and consistently.
* Maintain a high level of awareness in assigned areas and offer excellent customer service to deter theft.
* Unpack, stage, and move merchandise; assist in creating store displays and performing periodic inventories.
* Complete paperwork associated with merchandise inventory movement, price adjustments, customer returns, cash register operation, etc., accurately and completely.
* Be eligible for and participate in applicable commission and gain‑sharing sales incentive programs.
* Lift up to 25 lbs. as it relates to job duties, including assisting customers, stocking sales area, etc.


Additional Responsibilities – Food and Beverage Convenience Bar

* Open and close the Food and Beverage Convenience Bar.
* Ensure all equipment is turned on during opening and turned off during closing (e.g., display merchandiser signs).
* Preheat and display products in the heated display merchandiser.
* Ensure sufficient goods and products are readily available by replenishing products and condiments (e.g., napkins, straws, cups, lids, creamer, sugar, etc.) in the holding bins on the beverage bar.
* Time‑date all products remaining at the close of business when placed in the refrigerator.
* Clean small wares equipment throughout the day and at closing, effectively time‑dating food and beverage products to ensure quality and integrity.
* Monitor the temperature in refrigerators and freezers a minimum of three times daily to ensure equipment maintenance.
* Attend a 4‑hour food safety training session initially and an annual refresher thereafter.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

No experience required. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
