In the context of ESA’s Earth Explorer missions, we are looking for an Operations Manager to lead the PDGS Operation team based at ESRIN’s premises in Frascati, Italy.
About the location
The ESA Centre for Earth Observation (ESRIN) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Frascati, Italy. From this location ESA conducts most of their earth observation research, including data analysis and distribution for other non-ESA satellites.
This position is open to protected categories under Italian Law 68/99 (“Rules for the right to work of disabled people”).

Tasks and activities
The scope of work will include:
* Ensuring that day-to-day operations of the core PDGS are carried on in an appropriate, cost-effective way according to the procedure agreed with the customer.
* Providing effective operations coordination and operations performance monitoring.
* Supporting the end-to-end data flow operations performance monitoring.
* Proposing improvement to operational procedures, processes and best practices.
* Managing operations configurations and changes; handling incident management activities, recovery from anomalies.
* Constantly interfacing with the customer to provide operations status and information about major anomalies, if needed.
* Attending meeting and specific boards organized by the customer to provide operations status and reference to anomaly investigation process.
* Supporting the User Support Service to ensure the resolution of incidents and requests raised by users.
* Performing operations quality controls and ensuring SLAs and relevant KPIs objectives are met throughout operations phases.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
* Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, with at least 4 years of experience.
* Demonstrated experience in EO mission ground segment operations.
* Good knowledge of MS Office tools, including spreadsheet and presentation preparation.
* Proven work experience as an Operations Manager or similar role.
* Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
* Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
* Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
* Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
