The Human Technopole Foundation (HT) is an interdisciplinary research institute, created and supported by the Italian government, whose aim is to develop innovative strategies to promote human health and healthy aging through a multidisciplinary and integrated approach, combining genomics, computational biology, structural biology, neuroscience and health data science. HT scientists work together to enable interdisciplinary research and to create an open, collaborative environment to help promote life science research nationally and internationally. In line with its mission to serve the research community at large, HT operates National Facilities, specifically aimed at making HT’s technologies, methods and tools available to the national scientific community.
The Human Technopole Foundation is looking for an ICT Infrastructure Engineer (Windows) to work within the Data Centre Facility.
The successful candidate will be responsible The ICT Infrastructure Engineer (Windows) is responsible for the administration, optimization, and security of Windows-based systems within the institute's ICT infrastructure. This role ensures the stability, performance, and scalability of mission-critical Windows environments, supporting research, administration, and enterprise operations. The engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to implement best practices, automate processes, and enhance system resilience and will report to the Core Services Manager.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
* Manage, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments to ensure high availability and performance;
* Implement system hardening and security best practices in collaboration with Cybersecurity and Digital Services teams;
* Monitor system health, performance, and capacity planning to prevent service degradation;
* Ensure compliance with ICT governance policies, security frameworks, and industry standards;
* Ensure best practices for Windows Server roles (DNS, DHCP, File Services, IIS, Remote Desktop Services, etc.);
* Administer and optimize Active Directory (AD), Azure AD (Entra ID), Group Policies (GPOs), and Identity Access Management (IAM) solutions;
* Implement and manage Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to strengthen security;
* Automate user provisioning and deprovisioning to enhance efficiency and compliance;
* Oversee Windows patch management strategies to ensure security and minimize vulnerabilities;
* Implement and maintain endpoint security solutions, and audit policies in collaboration with Cybersecurity team;
* Conduct regular security assessments and compliance checks to meet regulatory requirements;
* Diagnose and resolve complex Windows system and infrastructure-related issues;
* Perform root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurring incidents;
* Collaborate with ICT teams to troubleshoot critical infrastructure-related incidents efficiently;
* Maintain up-to-date documentation for Windows system configurations and procedures;
* Identify and implement improvements for system performance, security, and reliability;
* Contribute to knowledge sharing within the ICT team, ensuring best practices are followed.
Requirements
Mandatory requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field;
* Minimum of 3 years in Windows system administration, IT infrastructure management, or a similar role;
* Deep expertise in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) administration;
* Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, and Windows-based authentication;
* Experience in PowerShell scripting and automation;
* Understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, and security best practices;
* Good English communication skills, both written and spoken.
Preferred requirements:
* Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field;
* Azure Administrator Associate;
* Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate;
* ITIL certified;
* Previous experience with a similar role in another Research Institute.

Salary range: € 40 to € 45k depending on candidate’s seniority.
