Yacht New Build Engineer
Reports To: Project Manager / Owner’s Representative / Technical Director

The Yacht New Build Engineer will provide technical expertise and engineering oversight throughout the design, construction, outfitting, and commissioning phases of a new-build yacht project. This role involves close collaboration with shipyards, naval architects, designers, contractors, and classification societies to ensure all engineering systems and installations meet the highest standards of safety, performance, and compliance. The Engineer will play a critical role in quality assurance, problem-solving, and ensuring that the owner’s technical requirements are met.
Engineering Oversight
Review technical specifications, drawings, and system layouts for compliance with project requirements.
Monitor shipyard construction activities to ensure correct engineering practices and quality standards are applied.
Provide technical input during design reviews, material selections, and equipment approvals.
Project Support
Assist the Project Manager in evaluating engineering-related risks, budgets, and schedules.
Support coordination between mechanical, electrical, HVAC, propulsion, and other technical disciplines.
Track and report engineering progress, highlighting potential issues and proposing solutions.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure adherence to class, flag state, and international maritime regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, etc.).
Oversee inspections, factory acceptance tests (FATs), and installation verifications.
Maintain accurate technical documentation and records throughout the build.
Commissioning & Handover
Supervise testing, commissioning, and sea trials of engineering systems.
Degree or equivalent qualification in Marine Engineering, Chief Unlimited, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline
Proven experience (5–7+ years) in yacht or ship new build projects, refits, or shipyard engineering roles.
Strong knowledge of yacht systems (propulsion, fuel, electrical, HVAC, hydraulics, water treatment, etc.).
Familiarity with class and flag requirements and international maritime regulations.
Flexibility to travel extensively and work on-site at shipyards worldwide.
