About Orient Express Palazzo Donà Giovanelli

Orient Express will open its second hotel in Italy at the exceptional Palazzo Donà Giovannelli in Venice, in partnership with the Italian luxury hotel group ARSENALE. Architect and interior designer Aline Amar d’Amman, alongside her studio Culture in Architecture, has been entrusted to design and decorate the space.

Venice, once the gateway to Constantinople and a mythical stop on the legendary Orient Express train – that opened its doors in 1919 with the completion of the Simplon tunnel linking Switzerland to Italy – will be the home of the second Orient Express hotel, set to open in 2025.


Job Description

The Housekeeping Manager oversees the daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and service throughout the hotel. They provide leadership and support to Room Attendants and Housemen, organize daily room assignments, inspect rooms and public areas, and ensure guest rooms are perfectly maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assign and inspect rooms, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.

2. Monitor room status, handle check-outs and priority rooms (VIPs, rush rooms).

3. Maintain inventory and cleanliness of guest areas, pantries, and corridors.

4. Manage guest requests, complaints, and lost & found items professionally.

5. Coordinate with Front Desk, Engineering, and other departments.

6. Conduct regular inspections and maintain guest preference databases.

7. Participate in staff hiring, training, scheduling, and discipline.

8. Implement deep-cleaning schedules and ensure compliance with safety and grooming standards.


Qualifications
9. Hotel Pre-opening experience is preferred.

10. At least 5 years of experience in a luxury (5-star) hotel.

11. Excellent communication with fluency in Italian and English, both spoken and written.

12. Curious, team player, caring about colleagues and guests, attention to details.

13. Familiarity with cleaning equipment and supplies, as well as proper cleaning techniques, equipment and chemical usage.

14. Must be guest-oriented, enthusiastic with a vibrant personality.

15. Must maintain composure at all times and work objectivity in stressful, high-pressure situations.

16. Ability to approach all encounters with guests and employees in a professional manner.
