SUMMARY
Specialist needed to provide general Academic Advisor and Testing Specialist Administrative services for U.S. Air Force voluntary off-duty education program support for the Aviano Military community and dependents.
QUALIFICATIONS
5. Education: Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university and/or 15-30 semester hours in counseling. Degree experience in education field preferred.
6. Excellent customer service skills and verbal communication skills.
7. Experience: One-yearRelated professional work or volunteer experience is desired.
8. Knowledge of/experience with Air Force terminology, office procedures, and education programs preferred.
9. Must be English-speaking
10. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint is required.
11. Ability to operate copier machine, label maker, scanner, shredder, Digital Wall Displays, and printers is required.
12. To perform necessary functions, ability to access Aviano Air Base is required.
13. Ability to transport services to needed areas; Right Start/FTAC Briefings, Education Fairs and CCAF Graduations and other unit briefings
THE DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
14. General Academic Advisor (GAA) Duties : Provide academic advisement, information, and guidance plus preparation of documents associated with the services provided and administrative duties
15. Maintain and update all academic and counseling records in AFAEMS system and MilPDS.
16. Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) Advising: maintain working knowledge of catalogs and advisors’ handbook. Advise on degree status and pending requirements as well as testing methods to fulfill college coursework. Document all member credit applications and nominate members for degree completion. Advise on process to order CCAF transcripts. Conduct bi-annual outreach to students.
17. Assist with preparation for graduation event.
18. Marketing: Maintain marketing displays and update regularly. Provide consolidated schedules on all academic courses. Update flyers and contacts for local scholarship information and ensure distribution to appropriate parties.
19. Edit and publish bi-monthly newsletter (six times/year); solicit articles from education staff for inclusion. Write additional articles for each newsletter.
20. Present education information at weekly Right Start information fair.
21. Provide Tuition Assistance Briefings and other briefings to units as requested.
22. Test Administration: Administer Air Force and commercial tests to include military, civilian, academic institution distance learning testing, and all other as needed.
23. Administer all approved exams weekly. Inform spouses of appropriate educational opportunities. Brief members on GRE/GMT process.
24. Administrative Duties: Take minutes at educational staff meetings. Answer incoming calls and provide assistance. Respond to walk-in customers. Manage emails to educational email address and respond accordingly.
