Position: NPI Manufacturing Engineer – Power, located at Rome 104 Otis Street, Rome, NY 13440 USA. Location: Onsite. Security/Eligibility: U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. persons are authorized to access information under this program/contract. Security Clearance: None/Not Required.
The NPI Manufacturing Engineer partners with Design Engineering to analyze and refine new product designs for manufacturability, ensuring seamless transitions from concept to production. This role develops and optimizes manufacturing systems—including equipment, tooling, fixtures, and processes—to meet targets for cost, quality, volume, and schedule. Responsibilities include process validation through data analysis, continuous improvement implementation, and technical support across internal teams and the supply base. Success requires strong collaboration and influence within high-performance teams, aligned with Collins Aerospace\'s core values and operational excellence.
What You Will Do
* Designs and develops manufacturing processes for products, taking into consideration problems inherent in the transfer of technology from research to manufacturing. Such design and development may include new or revised processes.
* Develops procedures for the economical mass production in cooperation with pilot-plant and production departments.
* Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variables; services, troubleshoots and solves production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation. Reviews field support requirements and recommends tools and test equipment. Determines maintenance and repair materials required for deployment.
* May make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.
* Provides guidance for engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
* Analyzes designs and provides feedback and suggested changes for component layouts.
* Consulted for the quality of new designs relative to compatibility to the intended manufacturing processes.
* Supports and/or facilitates RLPM Management Plans to ensure Operations requirements are considered. (Manufacturing Transition & Build Plan), DTC+ (Design to Cost Plus), Producibility Tenets
* Supports activities involving variability reduction to identify and mitigate process and product risk (DFMEA, PFMEA, etc.).
* Works autonomously with limited oversight from manager.
* Influences others regarding policies, practices and procedures
Qualifications You Must Have
* Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
Qualifications We Prefer
* PFMEA or other engineering assessment tools experience
* Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial engineering background
