As an Electrical Service Maintenance Technician at Tesco across Northamptonshire, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our stores remain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues alike. You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems and equipment, helping to keep our operations running smoothly. Your work will directly impact the shopping experience of thousands of customers every day. You’ll use your technical expertise to identify and resolve issues efficiently, always prioritising safety, compliance, and quality. Responsibilities
- Confidently interact with external contractors to coordinate repairs seamlessly.
- Work collaboratively with the team, maintaining quality service.
- Sustain high energy levels and efficiency while juggling tasks.
- Assist the management team by maintaining equipment and facilities to keep stores operating smoothly.
- Minimise customer disruption by coordinating repairs with minimal impact on customers.
- Ensure all Tesco sites are safe and functional for customers and colleagues.
- Follow the planned work schedule to achieve first‑time fix, improving efficiency and effectiveness.
- Work closely with team members, sharing best practice and knowledge.
- Handle general day‑to‑day store and property maintenance.
- Use mobile devices (phone and tablet) to drive the best approach in work completion and updates.
- Represent the Tesco brand by demonstrating our core values and maintaining a positive attitude while wearing the Tesco uniform.
- Attend local and national meetings, providing valuable input and feedback.
- Support a diverse and inclusive culture.
Requirements
Operational Skills
- Completion of a recognised apprenticeship or improver programme or trade proficiency test / relevant trade experience.
- Basic diagnostics: PCB/Microprocessor / HMI controlled systems / equipment.
- Electrical safety circuit – basic working knowledge, fault finding and replacement.
- EICR remedial knowledge.
- Full driving licence.
- Health & safety awareness.
- Communication & stakeholder management.
- Office 365 knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- City & Guilds Level 3 – Electrical (or equivalent).
- Apprenticeship/improver programme.
- EICR remedial works experience.
Preferable Qualifications
- City & Guilds Inspection & Testing.
- ECoPs.
- City & Guilds 18th Edition.
- MEWP/IPAF licence.
